Week 6 - Friday 22nd - Friday 29th April

Gundabooka NP & Road Side Stops

Star Rating:★★★☆

★=One star☆=Half a star

At Gundabooka NP, which is on the Darling River, Jackson and I spent most of our time catching little fish and shrimp. We made most of the shrimp into our 'pets', it was so cute when they grabbed onto our fingers with their small (but sometimes big) nippers! The rest of our time there we spent bush walking and jumping in mud!

The "Big Bogan" at Nyngan, we stopped there for a night.

When the Darling River was flooded it was up really high, but it had gone down a bit when we got there!!(the arrow is pointing to were the water was up to.)

👇There were heaps of goannas at Gundabooka and they ate the carps that we caught in our nets!👇

👇👆We had heaps of fun jumping in and out (we kept getting stuck) of a mud pit.👆👇

The view from Little Mountain lookout.

Mine and Jackson's "new car".

We climbed a big/huge/giant/humungous/larger than life boulder.
👇There was heaps of amazing Indigenous rock art in Gundabooka NP.👇

We found an old shearing shed out in the middle of the bush near Gundabooka NP.

There was all the old machinery, a wool sorting table and even an old (dead) goat.

👆👇The beautiful sunset at Gundabooka NP.👆👇

There was a hot bore bath at one of the road side stops (the water comes from about 1km below the Earth's surface).

Lightning Ridge & Road Side Stops

Star Rating:★★★★☆

★=One star☆=Half a star

What is super sparkly, many different shades, colours and shapes, just plain beautiful and formed thousands of years ago underground??
It is..  !!!!!!!!!!!!!!OPALS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I bought these pretty opal earrings at Peter's Opals in Lightning Ridge.

I found all these opals around our campsite. They look best when they are in the sun or in water. (they look even better in water in the sunlight!). When the light hits them at the right angle they show many different colours.

👇We did a walk in mine tour and it was amazing!👇

I would not climb up that even if the mine was on fire!

We went to the 'Ridge Castle'! 🏰
Oops, I guess I was bad.😈

We went to a bottle and can house!!

We saw Stanley the Emu.

We went to 'The Club In The Scrub'!

After we left Lightning Ridge we went to many different and interesting towns as we started driving towards the coast.

There was a huge cotton harvester at the Information centre in Narrabri, because cotton is grown in the area.

We went to the Sawn Rocks, which are rocks that were formed millions of years ago by a volcano!🌋

We stopped at Rocky Gorge, an old glacier, for lunch. We swam and caught little fish in the crystal clear waters!
