Week 29 - Snorkelling with the Manta Rays (it was AMAZING!)

Manta Ray boat tour: Coral Bay, WA

As soon as I bounded out of bed in the morning I started to get ready as I was super excited for the fun day ahead. Because we were going to be doing a lot of activity that day we ate a massive breakfast (a big bacon and egg sandwich) to fill us up. By the time we were finished it was only eight o'clock and we were all completely ready, so we had around a full hour to wait until the tour started. When we finally went down to where we needed to meet the bus that would take us down to the boat ramp, we were super excited to go out and snorkel. As soon as we got to the boat ramp we jumped on to the boat and were given a safety talk before heading out to the first snorkel site which was beautiful. It was cold (because we were in deep water) but we saw some amazing coral and fish, there was also a cute turtle. When everyone on the tour got out of the water we were all shivering, but the hot drinks and the biscuits soon warmed us up. Soon after we had gotten warmed up we were told to get ready to jump in again, as the spotter plane that was used to find the Manta Rays had found some near us! When we got in and were swimming over them I was in awe, they were so beautiful and majestic! We ended up getting to have four swims with the Manta Rays and for each swim we got to swim with three Manta Rays (and for one of them there were FOUR!)! When we left the Manta Rays everyone was starving, so we had lunch. When we all had finished we went snorkelling at a new site and it was amazing, there were so many interesting bits of coral. I saw a turtle, some reef sharks, a piece of coral that looked like a circle slice of pineapple, and heaps of massive fish, the biggest one I saw was about 1.5 meters! When we had finished that snorkel the boat started to head back into shore, it had been an amazing day!
