Week 61- Sunday 30th July - Sunday 6th August

 Arnhem Land, NT

Day Fifteen

Gove Boat Club

Star Rating:★★

★=Full Star=Half a Star

As soon as the car pulled up at our camp, Jackson and I went and started climbing the big tree that was at the boat club. We made some friends (four year old twins) – they loved playing with us and we did lots of piggie back races with them. That night we had dinner with them at the boat club and I got a massive French schnitzel (it had bacon, avocado and hollandaise sauce)  –it was yum!

Day Sixteen

Gove Boat Club

Star Rating:★★

★=Full Star=Half a Star

Dad and Jackson went on a fishing charter in the morning and whilst they were gone Mum and I went to explore a few beaches. They were all beautiful and we wished we could swim-it was really hot. After the beaches we went and had a look at Roy Marika Lookout- the view was awesome as you could see the whole town! When we had finished marveling at the view we went to a café where I got a piece of banana cake. Later, when we went back to camp, we did a bit of work. The boys brought back a heap of fish including two Dhufish (that Jackson pulled in), a Spanish Mackerel and a lot more. When they got back we quickly got our bathers on and went to the pools, we cooled off in there for about an hour or two. On the way back we stopped into the supermarket and got an ice-cream each. That night we had a delicious dinner of fresh fish (caught by Dad and Jackson) and chips.

At one of the beaches Mum and I went to.

The view from
Roy Marika Lookout-you could see the whole of Nhulunbuy!

Day Seventeen

Cato River

Star Rating:★★

★=Full Star=Half a Star

After leaving the Boat Club we drove for a couple of hours before setting up camp at Cato River. As soon as we were set up we went down to have a swim at the swimming hole, it was beautiful. Because the water was pretty cold we spent most of our time sitting on the rocks reading. That night we were just sitting around the fire when millions and millions of bats started flying past above us! It looked incredible!

Relaxing with my book at Cato River waterfall.

The millions of bats that flew past us!👇

Day Eighteen

Mainoru Roadhouse

Star Rating:★★

★=Full Star=Half a Star

We left early in the morning and drove for five hours-we only stopped for a pee break and for Dad and Jackson to cut the head off a dead water buffalo. It STUNK!! When we got to Mainoru Roadhouse, at around two in the afternoon, we quickly had lunch before heading down to the swimming hole. It was awesome and we had it all to ourselves, there was a rock to jump off and we found an old watch at the bottom!

Katherine, NT

Star Rating:★★

★=Full Star=Half a Star

Whilst at Kathrine we mainly repacked everything into the caravan-though Jackson and I still found lots of time to play in the pool. We were going to go and swim in the river again but.....there was a large croc spotted where we swam last time!! On the night before we left we went into the theatre in town and watched the Barbie movie. It was awesome and we got chocolate, lollies and popcorn to eat with the movie! On the way back from the movies we stopped at the river and did a bit of spotlighting-we spotted a pretty big fresh water croc.

The croc we spotted on the way back from the movies (it was laying right near where we were going to swim that afternoon!!).

Edith River, NT

Star Rating:★★

★=Full Star=Half a Star

On the day we arrived we spent the whole afternoon in the water as it was stinking hot! The next day we were going to do a day trip to Edith Falls but, just before we left, Jackson cut his finger badly on a piece of bitumen-he had to go into the hospital in Kathrine! Mum and I ended up spending the day hanging around camp while Dad took Jackson to get his finger mended.

Our camp spot.

The view from where we had our fire was awesome-you could see right across the river.👇
