Week 45 - Monday 16th - Sunday 22nd January

Albany, WA

Star Rating:★★

★=Full Star☆=Half a Star

Whilst at Albany we got to see heaps of amazing things, including Misery Beach, The Blowholes, The Gap, Natural Bridge and The ANZAC Centre. The first place we visited, Misery Beach, was so called because, when the Albany Whaling station was still open all the slaughtered whale's teeth and innards washed up on the Misery Beach. After many years Misery Beach has now been named the best beach in Australia!!!! It was really beautiful and Jackson and I climbed a massive rock cliff/ boulder that was next to the beach, my feet were super sore after-the next day I found some blisters on the bottom of my feet!! The next place, The Blowholes, was a hole in the cliff that expelled air and water when there was enough swell and wave power. It was amazing and I nearly lost my hat a couple of times when the air got expelled super hard! The next two places, the Gap and Natural Bridge were both awesome. The Gap was a massive section in between the rocks and there was a walkway that went out to the middle of it. Natural Bridge was a spot where the rock under the 'bridge' had worn away, making it into a Natural Bridge.

A day later we spent the morning looking around the ANZAC centre which was interesting and sad at the same time, as around 30,000 soldiers left from Albany and only about 1/3 returned. There was also a lot of old Army guns and equipment outside. That afternoon we also went for a drive to look a lots of wooden sculptures made with a chainsaw, they were were incredible!

For the rest of the time we were at Albany we relaxed at camp and had an awesome time at the skatepark, Jackson on his scooter and me on my roller skates.

From Natural Bridge you could see huge splashes from when waves hit the rocks, it looked super cool.

Stirling Ranges, WA

Star Rating:★★

★=Full Star☆=Half a Star

On the way to Stirling Ranges we stopped off at Castle Rock and Mum, Dad and I walked to the top, as Jackson had a rolled ankle and a sore knee. After a long uphill walk we really enjoyed the cool breeze on top, there was a great view from the sky walk (a platform circling the rock). When we we parked at the Mt Toolbrunup carpark, Dad and I quickly had lunch then went and walked MT (Mt Toolbrunup), it was a very difficult climb but the view from the top made up for it! The walk was mostly on rocks and the whole thing was uphill! From the top of MT we called Mum and Jackson back down in the caravan (they didn't come because of Jackson's rolled ankle), Nanna and Opa (my Grandparents) and my Uncle Markus, it was nice to catch up with everyone! The way back down was even harder as the rocks and pebbles made it very slippery!! That night we camped down in the MT car park.

The next day we got up bright and early to walk Bluff Knoll, luckily Jackson's ankle was feeling better so he came with us. The walk wasn't anywhere near as hard as Mt Toolbrunup, but it was a bit higher and the view from the top was just as good. When we got down we had lunch and Jackson and I had a delicious ice-cream to cool us down. That night we stayed at the Stirling Range Resort where we had an awesome view of the mountains. Stirling Ranges was beautiful!
