Week 59- Sunday 16th- Sunday 23rd July

Arnhem Land, NT

Day One

A river near Bulman

Star Rating:★★

★=Full Star=Half a Star

We left Kathrine around ten, and drove for a couple of hours before stopping for lunch at a beautiful lookout. The lookout was called Jurassic Park Lookout because locals believe that nothing about the landscape has changed since the age of the dinosaur. That afternoon we stopped at a lovely camp spot by a river (we couldn’t swim because there was crocs) and spent the afternoon sweating around the fire.

Day Two

Rocky Bottom Creek

Star Rating:★★

★=Full Star=Half a Star

We didn’t start driving till later in the morning as we still needed to get into the rhythm of packing up the tent. It didn’t take us long to reach the place where we wanted to camp for the night as it was only a few hours up the road-when we did get there Jackson and I got our bathers on right away and jumped into the shallow stream that was right next to camp. We spent the afternoon playing in the stream and didn’t stop until it was late afternoon and the sun had disappeared behind some clouds. That night we all got HAMMERED by mozzies as we sat around the fire-except for Dad, who was lucky as he only got a bite or two.

Relaxing in Rocky Bottom Creek.

Day Three

Manangaymi River (Scout Camp)

Star Rating:★★

★=Full Star=Half a Star

After driving for a few hours we pulled up at Manangaymi camping area. As soon as we had set up we got in the refreshing water for a swim-there was a rope swing close to our camp Jackson and I had fun doing different tricks and flips on. Later in the afternoon we met two local families that were camped near us- Jackson and I had heaps of fun playing with the four kids. They had glow sticks and sparklers so we played with them late into the night.

Our camp spot.

Our favorite swimming spot- it was our favorite because it had the rope swing that we had heaps of fun doing tricks on!

Day Four

Manangaymi River

Star Rating:★★

★=Full Star=Half a Star

In the morning we did competitions on the rope swing with the friends we had made-it was really fun. After they had left Mum and I did a few hours of work on our blogs. Later, in the afternoon we swam and the boys put some nets in to try and catch red and blue claw.

Sitting on the waterfall at Manangaymi River. The current was very strong so we got a good neck and back massage!

Swinging on one of the many rope swings with Jackson.

Day Five

Lurrupukurru Beach

Star Rating:★★

★=Full Star=Half a Star

We swam and did tricks on the rope swing until morning tea when dad cooked up the red and blue claw that we caught in our nets. When we had finished eating we packed up and started driving to our next camp spot, Lurrupukurru Beach. We spent the rest of the day looking through all the rubbish on the beach. I found lots of thongs, lighters, toothbrushes and heaps more!

There was some awesome bright red flowers near our camp at Lurrupukurru Beach.

Jackson and I built a cubby out of things we found on the beach.

Day Six

Lurrupukurru Beach

Star Rating:★★

★=Full Star=Half a Star

We started driving up to Cape Arnhem quite early and on the way we saw heaps and heaps of turtle tracks!  We also stopped at a couple of beaches where, sadly, there was heaps of rubbish. When we got there we started by exploring the four campsites-they were beautiful! After we had found a spot to park the boys got out their fishing rods and were gone-they were off to fish the rocks. Mum and I walked along the beach but before long we got boiling hot and had to move the car into one of the campsites so we could sit in the shade of a big tree. Before long there was a freak shower and because we had left the fly (the cover) off the tent and we did NOT want all our stuff to get wet we quickly drove back. We spent the rest of the afternoon chilling around camp.

On the way up to Cape Arnhem we stopped at a beautiful beach. It would have been a lot more beautiful if there was no rubbish.👇

We saw some awesome turtle tracks on the way to Cape Arnhem-the turtles had crawled up the sand dunes, dug a hole, laid their eggs in it, covered it up and crawled back down to the water!

Day Seven

Little Bondi

Star Rating:★★

★=Full Star=Half a Star

In the morning we packed up early and drove to Goanna Lagoon where we swam for a bit before heading onto Little Bondi Beach. It was really windy and sand was blowing everywhere so we spent most of the day sitting at camp getting blasted by sand! The night was way the worse though because the sand swirled in under the tent flaps and was swirling around inside the tent so we all got covered by it! The next morning it was STILL blowing a gale so we packed up-though Mum and I quickly went on a little walk over to Turtle Beach where it was beautiful!

We ate dinner sitting around the fire on the night we stayed at Little Bondi.
